Work-in-progress of another Beauty and the Beast mini comic.
I have a couple of non-personal projects to get out of the way at the moment so I have no idea when I’ll finish this but uploaded it anyway for all the folks who asked me for more progress shots. The pages and frames are at varying stages of painting. When I’m doing something like this that involves lot of usage of same colours/characters all over again I tend to do all the bits of same base colour at once and then focus on each frame individually with its own shadows and details.
This is shamelessly da Vinci-inspired. I finally got around to seeing the drawings at the Birmingham museum last weekend AND discovered that everything in the possession of Royal Collection is viewable on their website’s eGallery. Yeah. That’s a lot of amazing artwork.
“That looks heavy, can I help you with those?”
“Oh yes please could you take a few off the top?”
“No no it’s ok, I can carry them all”
“You’re sure? Well, okay.”
“No problem at all… hngh! …what the… these are actually heavy!”
Something along these lines happens often to many men I know when it comes to laundry baskets and such…. if it looks heavy it probably is.
This is an older drawing from December 2010 but Suzie-Guru on deviantArt just wrote an adorable little dialogue for it that I need to share. I didn’t really have a dialogue in my head when I drew this, just the thought that it must’ve taken Belle and Beast a while to dig out the books both of them liked in that massive library.
“Why can’t we read more about that Arthur guy, the one who was king? He was fighting that other guy, More-something?”
“Mordred. And we’ll go back to Arthur and Camelot, but you promised me you would let me read you some Shakespeare.”
“But - “
“This one has a big feud between families, lots of sword fighting, and forbidden love.”
“…Okay, we can do that one instead.”
