day 18: the scene that always makes you cringe 

I have a lot of scenes that make me cringe and the one thing they all have in common is that it’s something that’s out-of-character for the particular character because it’s just been put in the movie as a cheap trick for laughs by the storywriters or to amuse the kids since most animation studios currently seem to think they get bored and wander off if someone doesn’t pull a silly face every five minutes.  

I love Eugene; he’s adventurous, clever, has that Disney prince moral backbone that he’d do anything for his girl, funny etc.  He’s clearly travelled around a bit, no clue if he’s originally from Corona (Rapunzel’s kingdom) or just passing through (but he’s been there long enough to become well-known to the local law enforcement).  He knows enough to know there’s a crown worth stealing.  Which implies he knows about a princess, some magic story about flowers (which also implies that there is acceptance and common use of magical powers in their world seeing as the King and Queen knew to actively look for a healing flower for the sick Queen) and he’s clearly not dazed by chameleons and horses with human-like intelligence and expressions.   And then he freaks out about hair and pulls faces at it like he’s constipated?  Sorry about the rant but just… Gahh.
