This is for the anons requesting a kind of a tutorial/drawing progression pictures.  The image is hueg like xbox, click to view properly.  For a brief overview…
First image is just the tools I use.  Blue pencil for sketching, markers for clean-up. Winsor&Newton watercolours and some cheap pound shop colours.  The small set I got several years ago, the big one this summer.  First I find my inspiration, in this case it was the Disney Store kids’ costume dresses. Then I start with a (usually blue) pencil sketch followed by a clean-up.  Fine markers and gel pens for this.  In this case the gel pens were sort of a woo-hoo moment. Normally I avoid them since you lose the shimmer when you scan pictures but it looks so nice in RL and does show up in photos.
And then… I started colouring.  I tried to take a photo every 5-10mins, there’s some gaps where the kids were distracting me or I had to leave my desk for a while but in general I think I got most of the stages.  It’s just a gradual working from light to dark until you’re happy with the result. Hope this is kind of what you anons were looking for.
