Esmeralda and Djali.

Anonymous asked: whose princess lumi?

It’s my OC from years and years ago… I still draw her occasionally but not that much.  She’s the human form of a star and can control their magic but after I saw Stardust I was a bit meh. And also someone pointed out to me that apparently there was a snow princess-kind of character called Lumi in Vertigo’s “Fables”.  All good stories have been told already and nothing’s original but I have no regrets. I still wuv her.

Happy St. Lucia’s day all!
Wikipedia page on St. Lucia.  It’s always been one of my favourite winter events.  Growing up in the Nordic region where there’s little sun during midwinter the symbolism of light conquering the darkness is lovely regardless of your own religious beliefs.

I read a lot of other Disney-related blogs and follow other fan artists and over the years I’d say there’s no other bitching like the princess bitching.  I tend to just ignore it for the most part but I can see why lot of people get annoyed by it and kudos to the bloggers who have the patience to try explain it over and over again.  The constant requests “but you drew/posted that princess, why can’t you draw/post Esme/Meg/Jane/etc. in the same picture” etc. and the messages “why did you draw/post/include Mulan, she’s not a real princess!”.   /sigh\  Being a Disney princess has sod all to do with being an actual princess of any kind and us fan artists/bloggers have nothing to say with who is and isn’t one.  Disney Princess concept is a merchandise line-up of selected animation characters that Disney as a company can use to sell the most merchandise possible wheter it’s in the Midwest, Midlands or Middle East.  End of.

THANK YOU.

ALICE IS MY FAVORITE PRINCESS.
I HAVE NO REGRETS.

I don’t normally reblog myself but just to elaborate on some of the comments this picture has been getting… I wanted to put in a lot more characters but it’s already cluttered to hell and really had to stop myself from going on tangents.  In my head there should be Holli Would next to Anastasia going like “You’re so lucky. Nobody ever confuses me for Disney :’(” and Alice going “*sigh* I was almost a Princess once” (she was sort of included in the official line-up in the early 90s before all the ethnic princesses and moms complaining about her film being about drugs bumped her off).  Tinkerbell should had been there too, “Who needs princesses biotches when I have my own fairy bffs!” and Giselle and Jessica Rabbit saying something about how it’s racist that they’re excluded just because they acted with real people too.  Faline and Nala should had been having a conversation with Jane about how it’s better to be a queen anyway, pish posh to being a princess.  I wanted to put in Pocahontas at the bottom too asking if she’d finally get a real proper princess dress and Mulan echoing Belle’s comments about how old-fashioned the line-up is and how she’s a bamf warrior and this dainty pink shit is degrading.
Sorry folks but you just can’t fit everything onto one page without making it impossibly small to read.

Awww come here and let me hug you little Tumblr Anon. I hope whatever’s making your life so terrible right now is just a passing phase.  We’ve all been through dark times, you just have to keep believing in better and working towards it.  Happiness doesn’t come by overnight and sometimes you do need to go through a long process and make tough choices to make it happen for you.

I have to admit that reading the amazing omgthatdress tumblr, watching Madonna on YouTube and Garrow’s Law on telly recently proooobably had something to do with me drawing this.  BBC Costume dramaz.  Y U do this to me?

Wee little fan comic I made.  It just always baffled me how it all went from chilling in front of a fire with a good book to a romantic ballroom scene. So this is one of the missing scene possibilities my head came up with.
